“At the tender age of 51, I decided to tackle one of life's seemingly unachievable tasks - not bungee jumping, but to can pickles and peppers from my garden! I purchased this canning set from Lehman's after researching prices, it is a really good value for getting pretty much everything you need to get started. The package arrived quickly and was remarkably well packed. The Ball Blue Book is instructional for an array of basic recipes - just follow it along guidelines for what to can how, and there are some great recipes inside. Fouteen beautiful pints of delicious banana peppers later, I am a devotee of water bath canning. It is completely awesome to have the jars "pop" as they seal and you'd be surprised at how proud it makes you feel to present friends and co-workers with the fruits of your efforts. Go ahead, give it a try! A handy hint is to also have some flour sack towels on hand for easy clean-up of the process. I definitely recommend this kit for beginners.”
