Why should you worry about your home water supply? Here’s why: Continue reading
Well folks, we have come to the middle of August, when the children are bored but not ready for school yet, and our taste buds are tired of s’mores and potato salad. (Yes, this is possible.) Continue reading
Our children seriously love yogurt. They will eat it every day, in a bowl by itself, with various toppings, in smoothies, right out of the container, you name it. I know it’s good for them. However — and I’m probably the last mom on the planet to notice this — most store-bought yogurt has an obscene amount of sugar in it. Also, yogurt is not cheap, especially the all-natural/organic varieties I like to buy. So, in order to save money, feed their (healthy) yogurt habit, but reduce the (not so healthy) sugar habit, I invested in a yogurt maker from Lehman’s – and I made my own! Continue reading
Holiday Alert: Mother’s Day is only a few weeks away! For many of us, finding the right gift that says “I love you, Mom!” can be tricky, especially if our moms have everything they need and most things they could want. Here are some unique options we love – and we’re sure your mom will, too. Continue reading
I bake a great deal. So when Lehman’s asked me to name 10 Essential Baker’s Items, I jumped at the chance. No matter what you hear about kitchen tools, there’s one thing that holds true: if you pay for quality, it will last ages. These are pieces that will last you for years. You’ll find yourself using many of them for everyday cooking chores, too. Continue reading
Our favorite foods and our best memories are inextricably linked. The flavor and aroma
takes us back to those times of laughter, joy and camaraderie. And, what food is a better sweet memory starter than ice cream? What are your favorite ice cream memories? Running after the ice cream truck as its bell rings its way past your house? Sharing the cold sweetness with cousins at a summer family reunion?
Mine revolve around the ice cream freezer, because we always like to make our own. In fact, our hand-cranked ice cream freezer took on mythical importance to our family life. It was like an ice cream fount of goodness, the horn of plenty from which sprang sweet creamy cold-on-a-hot-summer-day fun. Continue reading
Yep, it’s a stick. But…it’s not just a stick. It’s the best stick your dog will ever fetch.
Those of us who have owned retrievers of any kind know the stamina of these amazing dogs to fetch and bring back…fetch and bring back…fetch and bring back. My husband and I used to say our yellow lab was a bit like a small child shouting, “Again! Again! Again!” after being tossed in the air or tickled or something else they really liked. After all, retrieving is in their blood. It’s what they were made for. But lots of other breeds love to play fetch, too. (That’s why this specialized stick comes in two sizes – for for dogs 25-50 lb, and for dogs 50 lb and up.)
This stick has a story. Like many of us humans, the creator of Fetchin’ Sticks battled bouts of depression. Maxx, the golden retriever he had rescued years before from Continue reading
June’s a big month for us at Lehman’s. We’re smack in the middle of Ohio’s Amish Country, which means we’re surrounded by dairy farms. Dairy products are big business in our area of Ohio. But there’s one dairy product we love more than any other…ice cream!
And July’s National Ice Cream Month!
Why celebrate with boxes of stone-cold-frozen bricks from the grocery when it’s just as easy to make your own? Here at Lehman’s, we can offer you some of the easiest (and most enjoyable) ways to make your own ice creams. Ice creams that will be fresh, sweet, and homemade, exactly to the tastes of you and your family! Continue reading

We’ve enjoyed a good rain, and the seedlings are thriving. My carrots are just emerging from the soil, and are finally making an appearance among the radishes in the garden.
The lettuce is also making its first showing, safely covered with chicken wire to keep the cat from scratching in the bed. I was excited to find my Black Cherry Tomatoes sprouting indoors recently. The seedlings are now warmly growing under fluorescent bulbs on my kitchen counter. Continue reading
