This is a fun, fesive project to share with kids. It's an extremely simple and healthy way to let their artistic talent shine through isn the kitchen—they just grab paintbrushes and go!

Painted Holiday Bread
What You Will Need
½ c. (4 fl. oz/118 ml) milk 4 drops each of red and green food coloring
White Bread 2 small bowls
2 brand-new paintbrushes toaster
  1. Divide the milk between 2 small bowls and mix each with 4 drops on one of the food colorings.
  2. Have kids set slices of bread on the counter or work surface and use the paintbrush and milk "paint" to paint a holiday design on the bread. They can make one large design or several small ones. Only ones side of the bread should be painted, and be sure the bread doesn't get too soggy!
  3. When the kids have finished their pictures, put the bread in the toaster on a low setting. The heat from the toaster will bake the designs into the bread.
  4. The bread can be used just as any other. You can make a whole batch and store it in the fridge, or put it in the freezer so there's always some on hand.
