"Works awesome with firm/fresh apples. It does not work well with soft/over ripe apples. The peeler/corer/slicer models don't work well with ripe apples either."

"Just like all my Lehman's products-I LOVE this apple peeler. I bought it last summer because I was tired of peeling apples by hand when I canned-it took so much time. This peeler made my canning so much easier AND faster! I absolutely love it."

"I purchased my Reading 78 Apple peeler years ago and can't tell you how many quarts of applesauce I have made using it. I had a neighbor who had one and thought it was so great I had to have one. Never had any problems with it. Very easy to use."

"My wife and I made 400 apple pies one weekend with a Reading 78. It's a beautiful design, maintenance free, and very sturdy. I've used mine for almost fifty years now and it's still going strong."

"This machine is fantastic! I love it!!! It cuts hours and HOURS off the apple preparation process. I have used mine to peel apples for 7 years now. The unit does have some peculiarities that you need to get used to: I find that the unit doesn't work so well on overly ripe, large apples. An overly ripe apple is not firm enough to anchor the prongs that are intended to hold it in place. Also, be careful with the rotating arm. It is easy to snap it off at its narrow area. When preparing to peel another apple, I lift the "rotating arm" up with one hand and cycle the unit back into the start position. Whoever invented this thing was a genius. Thanks, Lehmans, for making it available to the public!"

"I have used this apple peeler for along time not just for apples but also potato's and turnips. I use it to cut apples in to long strings for the kids they love it, and for potatoes to make curly fry's, and on turnips to make small batches of turnipkrout. A friend of mine has one and he uses it at swap meets to make money selling curly fries and there is a long line at his stand he has done thousands of potato's and never had any problem or breakage."

"I don't know what we would do without the Reading 78. Once a year we make mincemeat for the church & we peel 10 bushels of apples. It is a lifesaver - we used to peel them by hand."

"I used this on the first 4 to 7 apples and we loved it, but the following apples fall off the short fork and don't peel. The metal fork is also shedding metal onto the apple. First thing tomorrow I am returning this. bad duplication! doesn't work like the video shows. perhaps I got a "lemon", so we'll see how Lehman's customer service is. if their site allows me to revise this, I will do so after my returns/replacement experience"
