"This is a solid, well made pump. Threads directly onto 1&1/4" well pipe (shallow well or cistern). I just measured from ground to top of pedestal, added 2&1/2" +/- to make sure pipe threaded fully into pump body, added the height of my homemade 4' x 5'pump deck, slipped the pedestal over the pipe, threaded on the pump body, & bolted the pedestal to the pump. Minimal installation. Being me I called & talked to their water & garden specialist 1st. Pumped water all winter in -25 temps no problem. Pumps 24-32 oz. / stroke in my well, avg 5 strokes / gal. Primed it w/ lukewarm water, set a 5 lb propane tank mounted mini sunflower heater close & did other chores a few minutes as the cup & check defrosted, screwed the built in frost plug back in & set to pumping. Pulled the frost plug when done & pumped several times to quickly & fully purge residual water from the pump, & didn't lose a minute of sleep worrying about being able to reliably pump water in subzero temps. If what you need is a solid, reliable shallow well or cistern pump that need not have a sealed top I'd recommend this German workhorse. Also Lehman's know - how, helpful customer service both before & after puchasing. Can't be beat. Worth every penny & I'm a real skinflint. "

"We purchased this pump after searching Google and reviewing many other pumps. This was exactly what we were looking for placement in the front yard. The pump and included stand was the height we wanted. We have a Jack Daniels Whiskey barrel (Yes, we drove to Lynchburg, TN to get it) with the pump and the barrel fits perfectly under the height of the spout. I am not a big handyman, so a couple of chats with hardware store sales people, I got the plumbing products I needed and did it myself. We could not be happier with Lehman's for selling this fantastic German made pump. "

"I bought one of these pumps in late 1999 (it may or may not have been related to Y2K; I'm not saying), and it has worked very well (get it . . . pump . . . well) for most of the time since then. It was easy to assemble and install in my pre-existing well head using a 20-ft. piece of PVC as the down pipe. While I was able to do the installation by myself, having another pair of hands would have made it much easier. Something to think about if you're not over 6' and 250 lbs as I am. The only down time was when I failed to appropriately maintain it during winter weather, and I eventually had to get a replacement leather cup and another part or two. That experience was also a perfect example of customer service. The representative knew exactly what I needed, answered several of my simplistic questions and then sent me the parts I needed the next day, at what a considered a great price. The pump again works like a champ and, while I primed it the first few times I used it, it hasn't needed it lately. Since it's for emergency water needs, I just give it a quick pump or two every couple of days to keep it in good working order. There is a slight issue with rust forming inside the upper cylinder, which is why I didn't give it a 5 rating. But, overall, I'm more than satisfied."

"Even after discussing what I needed with the water guy I did not realize in any way that I need a cylinder and other components to make this operate. Also there were no instructions in the packaging so I only figured this out by someone else's complaint."
