"I use mine for extra heat in a small 8x12ft greenhouse. It lights up the area very well and raises the temperature about 4-5 degrees above what it would be without it, stopping the electric heater from coming on as much. Pros: 1. Excellent as a heater. Puts out about 1500 BTUs. 2. Will burn for over 3 days straight. 3. Burns really hot, I could hardly smell it indoors. Cons: 1. Weight. If you want to carry it around a lot, I would get the D-Lite or Blizzard. The Jupiter carries nearly 3 times the fuel and is best used as stationary lamp or a small heater. 2. At least with the blue one, the paint on the chimney is going to get discolored. So if looks matter a lot, I would get the black one."

"Just received my lanterns yesterday and I am totally blown away at how large the tank is? Two of them drank an entire gallon of aladdin lamp oil. The black one's are on backorder so I chose the blue and they couldn't be nicer. Great finish, burned amazingly well and I can't see where I would have any problem with them. They will be used nightly to provide light by my hot tub and they cast a beautiful light yesterday evening. I will probably still get a couple of the black when they are back in stock. Thanks also to Lehman's for such wonderful and quick service. I have referred many of my patients to your website in the past several months and will continue to do so. thanks for such a great operation"

"I took a trip to the store one day, picked out a jupiter and a blizzard both in blue. I love using these around the back patio for old school lighting! Huge tank on the jupiter burns for 70 hrs. I swear! Good choice! I will buy more!"

"i got one of these after reading all the reviews. I have a few other dietz lanterns but this seems to be the end all b all. some of the blizzards are brighter I sadly have a blizzard that I love but it is leaking after being damaged ( its gotta be over 50 years old). The jupiter is nice large tank less maintenance etc... It cranks heat out for what it is and light. There are better choices for heat and light but they also suck down more oil the jupiter doesnt. A recent power failure and I relized the ones i have are not enough and ordered 2 more jupiters. I figure they have a few more uses then just light etc.."

"We bought two of these lanterns, then had a 24 hour power outage in sub-zero weather. One kept the pump house from freezing, the other kept the chicken coop warm, 1500 BTU's each. I'm sure we will be using these in the greenhouse on cold nights this spring. Thank you, we love these lanterns/heaters."

"I have been using the Jupiter lantern for 1 year now. I use it on a weekly basis. Burns well, and lasts a very long time without refills. No problems so far."

"This is a great lantern that gives off a lot of light and enough heat to keep greens in a small greenhouse from freezing solid. Burns a really long time on a fill up because the tank is so large."

"I bought 2 of these for hurricane preparedness. My only regret is that these are only in that garish blue. I was delighted at the very large size, surprised at the light weight--these aren't heirloom quality! However, for their purpose, they seem well suited, light easily, and at least the bright blue will ensure they don't get lost!"

"I purchased two of these lanterns because they were highly reviewed by other shoppers-for good reason. My primary use for them will be emergency lighting/heat source in my Urban home. They were packed exceptionally well, did not leak when filled and had smooth wick adjustability. The Jupiter burns just as bright as the D-lite model. The only flaw I found with the product is the manufacture quality on the two I received-the intake draft tubes that connect the chimney top(if that is the correct terminology) are noticeably not at 90 degrees with respect to the oil/kerosene tank. Other than this very minor defect, I am very happy with the way this lantern functions."
