"This lantern is AMAZING,It gives off 12-14 CP of light and a tank that never seems to run out of fuel, Very easy to maintain and I also burn Aladdin Lamp Oil,that stuff is incredible no smell even after 6-8 hours of burning. The only issue is the burner wick adjustment it is very stiff so what I did was SNAPPED a pair of vice grips on the adjuster and made it flat so you have more EASE on turning it( like the FEUERHAND adjuster)OVERALL LOVE IT AND DEFINITELY RECOMMEND."

"I was looking for something to heat my greenhouse and read the reviews on this and thought I'd give it a try. It works great for what I bought it for. Of course it will come in handy for power outages. "

"Four years ago, I ordered two of the Jupiter lanterns (blue). I was so pleased with their quality and performance that I ordered two more this past month. The lanterns are well-constructed, durable, and easy to maintain. I use the lanterns for camping, for illumination when I am working outdoors late at night, or during power outages. The lanterns produce abundant, flicker-free light, even in gusty wind conditions. I use Aladdin lamp oil, which seems to prolong the wick life and minimize wick maintenance. Lehman's packs the shipment exceptionally well. The lanterns arrive in perfect condition. When lighting the lantern, I do assist the chimney assembly by gently pulling upward on the tab located at the top. This minimizes stress on the lever that is used to lift the chimney. I use a small household funnel to fill the lantern. I highly recommend the Jupiter lantern."

"The Lantern (we got a blue one) arrived well packed and double boxed. The finish and fit were good, considering what it is. Burns brightly, and holds a LOT of fuel. My only complaints are #1... the fill port is VERY close to the burner assembly, making the use of a funnel difficult, I'd suggest making a clear tubing + Funnel rig to make it easier to fill. #2... The lever to lift the Chimney assembly is soft metal and even though it was treated gently it has bent some... Use the Top ring combined with the lever to avoid this problem."

" I had to post a follow up comment, I have had two of these for over 2 years, during this time these lamps have been outside, with no protection from the elements. This has been 24/7, 365 for over 2 years. The only thing I have done is fill the lamps and trim the wicks. Now my report is as follows. These lamps have held up extremely well. I still have the original globes on them as well as the wicks. I took them to Edisto SC last summer and they burned from dusk to dawn each night, right on the ocean front and NEVER blew out even in some pretty stiff ocean breezes. They have endured heavy wind, rain, snow and still perform as advertised. They aren't new and shiny as they once were and there is a bit of rust here and there but I couldn't be happier, I mean these things have been through it in the past 2 years. I would Highly recommend them. Great product, great price and great service from Lehman's. When they wear out, I will get new ones. thanks so much. MSS"

"There should be a higher rating than "great", I would go with excellent! I love the blue. I have an old "Lil Wizard" that was a RR lantern in a gunk pile. Took the red off the lens. After all the years, still works great."

"I would like to add an excellent rating to those already posted here. I ordered the lantern to have in case of power outages and the moment it came out of the package I was impressed with its generous size and obvious quality. I picked up some lantern oil at a local hardware store, used an Internet search to learn how to use and trim a wick, and lit the lantern. It worked perfectly on the first try. No smoke, no soot, no odor. I plan to purchase another Jupiter lantern and am convinced that having two will be all I'll need for lighting purposes during our next ice storm/power outage. Thank you, Lehman's!"

"This came from Lehman's packed super well! It's a beautiful, well made lantern. It's big, but not outlandishly so. It's just a D-Lite with an extra big fount added on. You can look at the step at the top of the tank, the same size as the D-Lite's fount, to see how much bigger it is. It's not awkward to carry, but is a bit heavy with a full tank. I just walked 2 1/2 miles in the hills with it, though. It's OK for carrying, but the D-Lite would be handier. Where the big tank shines is when it's used for emergency backup lighting and can go a long time without refilling. It looks just like a 150% scaled up version of my Little Wizard that I've had for 40 years. I love it! "

"Great lantern!!!! My husband hates the odor of kerosene and put off-road diesel in it. The next day he put it in the bathroom for over an hour with the door closed. NO ODOR and burned soot free. Now, he has requested that I order him two more!!"

"Great lantern, kept my little seedling trees happy all winter long! And now is giving my little garden a head start! If you just do not have a dry warm spot to start your garden, this baby will get you headed in the right direction!"

"Had intended for it to be used camping but it is too big. Will now be used for our main emergency light source. Plenty bright. Love the large capacity font."

"I use mine for extra heat in a small 8x12ft greenhouse. It lights up the area very well and raises the temperature about 4-5 degrees above what it would be without it, stopping the electric heater from coming on as much. Pros: 1. Excellent as a heater. Puts out about 1500 BTUs. 2. Will burn for over 3 days straight. 3. Burns really hot, I could hardly smell it indoors. Cons: 1. Weight. If you want to carry it around a lot, I would get the D-Lite or Blizzard. The Jupiter carries nearly 3 times the fuel and is best used as stationary lamp or a small heater. 2. At least with the blue one, the paint on the chimney is going to get discolored. So if looks matter a lot, I would get the black one."

"Just received my lanterns yesterday and I am totally blown away at how large the tank is? Two of them drank an entire gallon of aladdin lamp oil. The black one's are on backorder so I chose the blue and they couldn't be nicer. Great finish, burned amazingly well and I can't see where I would have any problem with them. They will be used nightly to provide light by my hot tub and they cast a beautiful light yesterday evening. I will probably still get a couple of the black when they are back in stock. Thanks also to Lehman's for such wonderful and quick service. I have referred many of my patients to your website in the past several months and will continue to do so. thanks for such a great operation"

"i got one of these after reading all the reviews. I have a few other dietz lanterns but this seems to be the end all b all. some of the blizzards are brighter I sadly have a blizzard that I love but it is leaking after being damaged ( its gotta be over 50 years old). The jupiter is nice large tank less maintenance etc... It cranks heat out for what it is and light. There are better choices for heat and light but they also suck down more oil the jupiter doesnt. A recent power failure and I relized the ones i have are not enough and ordered 2 more jupiters. I figure they have a few more uses then just light etc.."

"We bought two of these lanterns, then had a 24 hour power outage in sub-zero weather. One kept the pump house from freezing, the other kept the chicken coop warm, 1500 BTU's each. I'm sure we will be using these in the greenhouse on cold nights this spring. Thank you, we love these lanterns/heaters."

"This is a great lantern that gives off a lot of light and enough heat to keep greens in a small greenhouse from freezing solid. Burns a really long time on a fill up because the tank is so large."

"I bought 2 of these for hurricane preparedness. My only regret is that these are only in that garish blue. I was delighted at the very large size, surprised at the light weight--these aren't heirloom quality! However, for their purpose, they seem well suited, light easily, and at least the bright blue will ensure they don't get lost!"

"I purchased two of these lanterns because they were highly reviewed by other shoppers-for good reason. My primary use for them will be emergency lighting/heat source in my Urban home. They were packed exceptionally well, did not leak when filled and had smooth wick adjustability. The Jupiter burns just as bright as the D-lite model. The only flaw I found with the product is the manufacture quality on the two I received-the intake draft tubes that connect the chimney top(if that is the correct terminology) are noticeably not at 90 degrees with respect to the oil/kerosene tank. Other than this very minor defect, I am very happy with the way this lantern functions."
