"I bought my Dietz lantern forty years ago while living in Florida. It has served us well having been through four hurricanes and never failed to work. My kids love it and keep trying to talk me out of it, but I told them they'll have to buy their own. The biggest thing is to use smokeless oil so you don't have to scrub the globe as often (actual kerosene and some lamp oils leave a nasty black soot)."

"Okay, I was worried about purchasing this due to the uneven quality of Dietz in China. However, this attractive, large size, black and brass lantern opens properly and has not leaked. Yay! Where have their brass lanterns disappeared to? They were so pretty."

"I love these lanterns!! We have 3 of them ourselves and I have bought them as gifts for friends who have also loved them. They are easy to use, very functional, and yet attractive enough to make a great decorative item when we're not burning them. We couldn't be more pleased and we've had these almost 6 months."

"We purchased two of these late last year. Both have worked well, though one was obviously made by a different person than the other; there is more attention to detail and perfect function. These can't be beat, for foreign-made lanterns."

"I just bought this lantern and brought it back with me to Germany where I now live. We use lanterns in our garden house where we have no electricity. I've purchased Feuerhand lanterns (which are great), but wanted something larger (and brighter). It is a large lantern, and brighter than the Feuerhands. The Dietz is maybe a little lower quality than the Feuerhands (most notably the globe (the Feuerhands' globe is heat resistant glass)), but not much. Also, I can't complain - the price of the Dietz is around $15 - about an hour's wage. I can't imagine these lanterns cost only an hour's wage back when they were first produced in the 19th Century (probably more likely a few weeks wages). Sure, I guess you can find these lanterns cheaper, but personally, I would rather patronize a store like Lehman's rather than the huge conglomerates. We're always complaining about nothing being manufactured in the US anymore, but then we continue to seek the cheapest item. I'm personally amazed they can produce a lantern so inexpensively (even the Feuerhands here are only 20 Euros). "

"I am ordering mine today! But my neighbor has 2 of them and they are awesome! I want to reply to the post about WalMart having this for a cheaper price. The one at WalMart that is mentioned is NOT the same. This lantern is 15 inches. The one at WalMart is only 4.5 inches. It also has horrible reviews. I generally do not comment on another review. But for something like this, you get what you pay for. If you want a lantern that you can depend on when you need it.....get this one at Lehman's!"

"I bought the same lamp today, but without the name brand at Walmart for $5.97. Both made in China. So, if you want to spend $11.98 more buy it here. Just saying folks."

"Bought two of these in December of 2012 when they were on sale, they arrived two days before the power went out for a day. They burned great, excellent light out-put only problem was that one of the globes cracked after five minutes of use. Contacted Lehman's they didn't have any more in stock. It took them a while to get the globe to me but delivered as promised. Excellent Customer Service!!!!"

"I ordered 2 Dietz Blizzard lanterns. They arrived a day earlier than expected. The packaging was excellent. They were wrapped in several layers of bubble wrap and the box was packed with paper to prevent movement. They were in perfect condition! I have not used them yet, but I am thrilled with the large size and vibrant color! I will be ordering more in the future!"
