"We run 40 lanterns for walking tours of a historic site, half Dietz (mostly Blizzard), half Champion. Like the more expensive Champions, the Blizzards are easy to light, stay lit in any weather, throw a respectable amount of light, are easy to clean, and look great--a good value. We just bought another dozen. They will rust where paint chips off, but otherwise hold up well to hard use. Be sure to pick up an extra globe and filler cap."

"Not bad at all for the price, can leak a very small amount around the fill cap area when used on walks if it has more than about half a tank of fuel- the directions do warn of similar reasons to not fill above 85% capacity, I am using Aladdin oil in mine and it gets great light output. Very pleased with the amount of light from this one. However, Aladdin oil seems to have a thinner viscosity than kerosene and I need to try some kero in this to see if it does the same thing but it seems Aladdin oil can wick itself up the fuel cap somehow when a little gets sloshed up into that area- it's not a big deal because the lantern would leak anyway through the burner if it was overturned, but a good reason to not fill the reservoir too full, also it weighs a lot less half full! If it had a better fuel cap on it I would give a 5 rating, otherwise a 4 and a good value. I use this daily or should I say nightly, for general purpose lighting on the farm, walks to the swamp at night, indoors when the power is out and sometimes just for a change of pace or for relaxation. All in all it's the best light you can buy for the price and I am buying more Dietz lanterns for the farm."

"I have several Dietz lanterns, my blizzard being the largest. The blizzard is almost impossible to blow out in any weather. Someone mentioned using odorless lamp oil. Don't use lamp oil unless you want your wick to eventually get clogged and your flame to burn weaker. Klean Heat brand heater fuel works well and is less smelly than kerosene, but is 3x as expensive. I recommend buying kerosene if you are going to use your lantern outside, because it is cheaper. You can also use your lantern to keep the bugs away from your porch buy burning a 50-50 mix of kerosene and citronella oil. You can also buy a kit to electrify a blizzard to use as a nightstand light. Personally, I like to use the blizzard (and my dietz junior as well) to do outdoor chores at night or to take nighttime walks in the country. I bought 2 Blizzards from Lehmans, one for me and one for my brother. They shipped FAST, were packed uber-well and work great...and although all dietz lanterns are now made in the people's republic of China, these blizzards and all of the dietz lanterns are solid products. Above all, buy Dietz lanterns from Lehmans! Their prices are low, shipping fast and reasonable. I bought a couple of dietz from somewhere else and they wanted 19$ for shipping...ugh! Order from Lehmans and you will not be disappointed. Believe it or not, I am a 18 year old antique collector and restorer and have picked up a little know-how about lanterns along the way. Preserve the past and Keep those lanterns burning! !!!"

"I have had this lantern for 5 years now and it goes out for chore time every night, all winter long. It works great even in windy weather and the large tank means I can fill it less often. We have several sizes of Dietz lanterns but this one is my favorite."

"Got this lamp yesterday. It was like a time warp. I filled it with fuel, lit it, and looked around for my boots to go out to the barn to let the cows out! Just like in the 50's. I live in City but just as good quality as I remember from the "old" days. I am ready for the power outages."

"This is a very beautiful lantern, so pretty I hate to even take it outside. It holds a lot of oil so will burn for a long time. Lehman's packing is awesome. You will not be disappointed by buying this lamp. It was shipped quickly and I'm a convert and will be purchasing more from this company. "
