"I must admit I fully expected a waffle iron for less than $20 would be money wasted. After washing the new iron and removing a few casting imperfections which looked like they might snag a waffle I seasoned it very well. I turned both small elements on my electric stove to just below medium and placed a half of the iron on each element. When each half had heated thoroughly, after lightly oiling both halves with a silicone brush, I poured about 1/3 of a cup of batter onto the lower half and quickly placed the top onto it. I allowed the the waffle to cook about two minutes, flipped the whole iron, and allowed it to cook about another minute. When I opened the iron to remove the waffle it only required a very minimum of coaxing to remove. When I removed the top to retrieve the waffle I placed it back onto the other element which I kept on while I cooked all of the waffles. This keeps the top hot while the waffle is removed and more batter added. I'm impressed. I love this original non-stick cookware. Additional note: The second element on which the top is placed while batter is added to the lower half should be kept a little hotter than the one which the bottom is on. This helps brown both sides evenly. "

" MADE IN CHINA! Chinese cast iron is inferior to American, which must be why I have been unable to get this seasoned properly. I ALWAYS waste 2+ waffles before this little bugger will work well. I also wish it had better handles and were easier to manipulate. It can be a real pain to use.It doesn't sit flat on my wood cook stove(Bakers Choice-LOVE IT!)due to the shape of the handles. As others have said having 2 burners going on a gas stove helps keep both plates hot. I wish I had a different model but this was the only one available here. "

"When I first got this pan, I washed it in hot & soapy water in order to get the wax coating off. Then I wiped it with oil & seasoned it in my oven. It made my house smell terrible, and when I took it out after it had cooled, there were drips off cooled wax mixed with burnt oil hanging from the pan. Obviously, not all the wax came off when I washed it. So, I washed it again, and then wiped it with vegetable shortening & seasoned it again in my barbeque outside. The second time did the trick & the pan was beautifully seasoned. Every time I use the iron, it just gets better! The waffles come out nice and fluffy & I haven't had any problems with sticking, or spill over the edges. I love this waffle iron!"

"This is an average product but I think it will eventually be better once it is seasoned and food doesn't want to stick so much."

"Best waffles I have ever made. I used electric versions for years. This is the best. Tip though when using on a range heat up pan put batter in let sit for a few seconds then turn over for 2 ~ 3 minutes. Perfectly fluffy waffles every time. I use an old Amish recipe for pancakes but double the butter :o)... Best Ever!!! Great job Lehman's finding this item."
