Excerpt from the Introduction: "This new edition ... includes the original and unique material covering all aspects of firelighting. I've updated material where there were changes in products, suppliers or fuel data over the past two decades. ... Although this is not a technical manual, The Book of Non-Electric Lighting will give you the basic information you need to make intelligent decisions about your lighting options. ... Nothing could be more natural than a renaissance of firelight. It's the original illuminant, it's back, and I think we'll be seeing a lot more of it in the years to come."

"I didn't buy this from Lehman's--I downloaded it to my Kindle--BUT this is a great little book. Perfect for someone like me who knows NOTHING about non-electric lighting and is looking to go off-grid. I really did not realize there was a difference between Aladdin and Hurricane lamps (for example) until reading this book, and now I know exactly what I want/need, which I intend to order from Lehman's. Great information, concise, and thorough. "

"A great comprehensive resource for understanding an almost-lost art. I have a combination of vintage lanterns and newer ones, and this explains how to fuel them all safely."

"The first version of this book helped form the foundation of everything I ever knew about oil lamps. It fired a life-long infatuation with non-electric lights. I got to return the favor 20 years later by helping the author update and reprint it. It's a great read if you want to know everything there is to know about non-electric lights."
