"Storey's Guides are usually pretty great, but Gail Damerow's Guide to Raising Chickens is one of the best. It covers all of the basics that new chicken keepers will need to know, and goes into depth for the most experienced poultry handlers. The book is organized exceptionally well, and is very easy to pick up off the shelf for reference. I teach chicken keeping workshops in my area, and always recommend this book as one of the top three to purchase when considering taking on chickens."
