CANNING JAR COFFEE GRINDER DESCRIPTION
"It grinds much better than my electric coffee bean(chopper). It has a much more consistent size grind than an electricwhirl blade chopper. The coffee also does not stick to the side of thejar like an electric chopper. It takes just a little longer but is worththe effort." --Stan

"This grinder is perfect and the jar is just a wonderful practical storage solution." --SBL

"Loved the idea, and for the first while, it was great. I only drink a cup a day, so I wasn't too hard on it. But the handle came loose, and the metal that turns the grinders was so cheap it quickly became a rounded hole, showing wear when it was only lightly used. I was very disappointed - wanted this to be my best grinder and the last one I had to buy, but it didn't turn out that way :-("

"We have the closed-top model, purchased about 15 years ago. Still using the same jar bottom, too. Can't praise this grinder enough. Takes about 100 turns on the handle to prep enough beans for my 10 oz coffee press every morning. Coffee is the very best freshly ground. Get One Now!!! "

"I remember my granddaddy grinding coffee in a manual grinder every morning and the smell of that coffee was amazing. Somehow, electric grinders have never held the same nostalgia for me. But, this grinder is perfect and the jar is just a wonderful practical storage solution. Lehman's shipped promptly and the packaging was very secure. Thank you for providing a quality product at a fair price."

"This is OK if you are strong, but the small size and therefore short arm don't give enough mechanical advantage for me. The reviewer tip on setting it on a wet cloth was helpful - I used a silicone hot pad. I found it easier to use one of those gardening gloves that has a non-slip coating on my left hand to steady the unit while I cranked with my right. The glove stripped the finish off the rim of the grinder though. I only used a few beans at a time too. I had to use the back and forth method for whole beans, rather than the continuous circular motion. The grinder worked great at grinding pre-ground coffee that was ground for perk and grinding it to fine drip grind, here I could grind continuously, but grinding whole beans is a trial for me."

"I received this coffee grinder recently and am very pleased with it! It's simplicity itself, with a mason jar (easy to clean!) attached to a hand grinder which really requires minimal effort. The exact coarseness of the grind is easily achieved by turning the sprocket up or down. This is truly an ingenious gadget--and is going at a much more reasonable price than other, fancier grinders out there. I even checked out used and vintage manual grinders. This hopper was cheaper and minus the quirks or possible damages. I'm very happy with this purchase!! "

"I love this coffee grinder for it's charm, uniformly fine grind, and the fact that I don't have to worry about grinding my coffee if the power ever goes out! But no matter how hard I try, I can't pull the locking washing up against the spring far enough to turn the threaded wheel to make a courser grind. And I need a courser grind to use my Vietnamese phin. Also, I spill beans everywhere trying to load the hopper. The door is too small. Mine does have a sliding door, but I found that it isn't necessary and tends to get stuck in the open position and takes a lot of force to close it. So over all, it's charming, but not at all practical. "

"We have an open hopper model, which I was skeptical of, but it works just fine, I can grind some coffee quickly without too much hassle. It's taken a little adjustment doing it by hand, but totally worth the effort!"

"Love love this grinder. While my electric grinder does a wonderful job, its of no value if the power goes out and it is extremely noisy! I purchased this grinder to take on camping trips, but I may just keep it at home and give the electric one to good will. It is quiet, cost effective and a labor of love to use. The canning jar does hold enough for 3 pots of coffee, and the hopper alone will hold enough to grind enough coffee for a 12 cup pot of coffee. I would recommend this to anyone who enjoys the pleasures of extremely fresh coffee. Others have said that the jar is somewhat awkward to hold and grind and that is true. That being the only draw-back, what a pleasure to add to my kitchen."
