THE GRAND DOUBLE-WICK LAMP DESCRIPTION
A Story of Light
“My father and I personally visited the manufacturer of the double-wick burner, just before the manufacturer went out of business. We fell in love with the two times brighter light and the very cool push button extinguisher. We bought every last burner he had. I then began the process of creating a lamp to go with the solid brass burner. This exclusive lamp is now assembled in our own facility.”
– Galen Lehman, President of Lehman’s

“Order soon, since we have limited supplies.”

"This is one beautiful and amazing lamp! The light output is wonderful! I can easily read a book/magazine by it without straining my eyes. Doing dishes, grinding and perking coffee are very easy to do given the amount of light. Needlework is probably something someone with good eyes could do. Even my kids like to sit in a chair next to me and read a book. I use this lamp at least twice a week for about two hours for each use. I've had no problems with the base as some of the reviewers have posted. I burn "packaged" kerosine meaning I buy it in the store as opposed to getting it out of the pump. I usually buy the "cheapest" gallon I can find. It puts out a fair amount of heat as well so it would certainly warm a small room up a couple of degrees. I would probably open up a window just a crack if using it in a small room, however. The burner assembly is solid and very easy to clean. The shroud twists off giving you easy access to clean out any dust or debris from the burner holes. Raising and lowering the wick is smooth. As other reviewers have posted: The best feature is the snuffer. Overall, I'm very impressed and would likely order another one. "

"The lamp it self is a great lamp that is easy to fill, light, and run. The problem is replacement wicks are not and have not been available for some time. The wicks have been backordered for more than 6 months."

"Great looking lamp. I used a 4" shade ring for a rayo lamp and epoxied it on the top of burner to put a shade on. It is sharp. Wish I could add a picture to show you. The shade cost more then the lamp."

"Filled with oil. Went to light it several months later, picked it up and the base fell off. The chimney went flying and broke. Why ?? If it cost 20 bucks more so be it. Make it one piece."

"Since at least two previous purchases resulted in the oil reservoir coming un-glued from the base, is it possible to purchase the burner assembly by itself and bypass the Chinese glass-gluing issue?"

Lehman's Responds:

Galen Lehman writes: I'm so sorry for the problem you experienced! As soon as we discovered this problem, we opened and checked every lamp. The ones that were incorrectly glued were confined to a small batch that had been apparently assembled by one person. If possible, we re-glued with a special epoxy designed to hold glass permanently. If we couldn't be 100% sure of being able to make a good repair, we destroyed the lamps. Only a very small number of lamps had this problem, and we've had no further reports of breakage since we did the quality inspection. (Note: All lamps that are shaped like this lamp are glued together at the narrowest point.)

"After a few months the oil reservoir fell right off the base! Thankfully the lamp was not lit. It was replaced free of charge. Great customer service. Still a little hesitant about using the new one though. I recommend not leaving it unattended for even one minute. "

"Great lamp for the most part. Puts off a great deal of light. It also puts out enough heat to warm the room it's in by a few degrees. Some things that could be improved: reservoir small for such large wicks, body is two pieces using glue between reservoir and base, difficult to find replacement wicks. As a word of caution warm this lamp up for 10 minutes before bringing wicks to full brightness. If you fail to do so the chimney could shatter from heat stress and create a hazard. However, this lamp is fantastic overall, especially for the price. Would recommend. "

"It casts a great light for a non mantle lamp. The push button extinguish is great! All lamps should have this feature."
