As an Lehman's employee I was able to rent this ice cream freezer for a family event which was called Cousin Camp. The 12 cousins age 18 - 4 years old spent 3 days together. On the last day I showed up after work with this electric ice cream freezer to make homemade ice cream. I asked Kerby, our shop person that has been and ice cream expert for years. He told with the weather almost 100 go to the local ice cream stand and ask for their liquid mix they use for the soft serve at their business. I ordered vanilla, it comes in a 3 1/2 gallon bag and is made by the Dairyman Dairy, which local for our dairymen to sell their milk too. The price was $19.95 and no other ingredients were necessary. Kerby told me to get the regular table salt in the round drums it would take 6 plus 8 bags of ice. I rounded these 2 items up. It took exactly 45 minutes and I only used 4 1/2 containers of salt & bags of ice and it was so good. The family enjoyed the 5 gallon can. It was clear full and it was so great. We served around 28 people with extra servings and froze 2 gallons that were left over, which kept nice in the freezer. So simple, yes it would have been fun to teach the younger ones to hand crank but with the weather we were experiencing this electric ice cream maker was perfect.
