I recently received my order of regular and wide-mouth bulk canning lids, and have already used them. They arrived without any damage and have performed flawlessly. I will definitely be ordering them again. Thanks Lehman's for providing these lids in bulk!
Bulk canning lids
Oct 7, 2017
I have ordered bulk canning lids from Lehman's in the past. They were gold on both sides, heavier weight than the retail Ball lids, and had a wider and thicker rubber ring (great for thick old style jars). This new sleeve of rings had the white lining, which I've never cared for, they are light weight, difficult to see if they're sealed (the center button is very hard to see), the rubber ring is thinner and narrower. They don't "ping", they have an anemic "thunk". They also have a much higher fail rate. Other than the color, I'd think they were Ball brand. I'll be looking for another supplier for these or I'll have to go to reusables.

I buy these all the time and the fail rate is almost zero. I never buy Ball lids because the fail rate is so high. Love the bulk packages. And they come to the door in great shape.
What Happened to the Canning Lids?
Aug 17, 2017
I bought canning lids from Leamen's specifically because you had the Gold metal on both sides-- I did not want the plastic coating on the inside of my canning lids. I was just finishing up my last order-- the Gold on Gold canning lids and today--in the middle of canning tomatoes I had to go to the new sleeve of bulk lids I bought recently. Had I opened them before I would have sent them back-- but as it was I was high and dry and in the middle of canning and needed lids NOW. So I had to use the plastic-coated lids you sent but I won't reorder them from Leamen's and I won't order them from anyone else as well. I know you say they are BPA free-- but BPA is just the tip of the iceberg when you are dealing with plastics and their carcinogenic and estrogen disrupting qualities. I am really, really disappointed-- I thought I could count on Leaman's for good quality, un-mucked-about-with canning lids and your switching over to these plastic -coated lids just breaks my heart. Please, please offer the non-plastic coated canning lids for people who are looking for the best for their and their family's health and safety. This last order from Lehman's was received promptly and in great condition. Just like every order I have received from this top quality business. I ordered the same seals 2 years ago and again this year. As long as you follow proper canning methods, these seals seal every time. They are extremely economical and I do not need to run around to a bunch of stores to purchase enough seals complete my canning. The local stores always run out. I highly recommend purchasing items from Lehman's, they back their items and if there is any issue they promptly replace it. I love Lehman's, just wish I lived closer and could shop at the store.
Not the best

I called Lehman's and was assured that both sides of the lids were gold gold and did not have the plastisol lining. I ordered one sleeve after I had just been stung by Dutchmans who also assured me that both sides of the lids were gold without any white lining, but in fact they too have the plastisol lining. Dutchmans charges way more than I could purchase the same product in the grocery store for, and shipping charges on top. I was and am highly disappointed in the lids and the answers I received. The good news is that I did receive a full refund with the shipping paid on the return. Lehman's is true to their word. I've purchased lamps, wheat grinder, and belts as well as other assorted items from Lehmans and have always been very happy until this purchase. I'm still on the lookout for real canning lids that do not have the plastic lining. It doesn't matter that they are BPA free, the other chemicals they used instead are even worse. I will have to continue to use DNA force and Super Female Vitality to clear the estrogen mimickers and endocrine disruptors from my system. I'm just not ready to make the big leap of expense and purchase weck jars and lids which would solve my whole problem. I am hoping that Lehman's will take the plunge and bring back the real canning lids that were a heavier metal lid with the thick ring of sealing compound without the plastisol lining. Those were canning lids that did not fail, were economical and were a pleasure to use. Also they didn't have the nasty chemicals that leached into the food while under boiling or pressure from canning. Please, Lehman's bring back real canning lids. I'll be a customer for life. You can be assured that I would be ordering at least 5 sleeves a year. I know, not much for a big company like Lehman's, but it wouldn't be just me ordering large quantities of lids it would also be a vast slew of other canners who feel the same.

the quality is good, but even in bulk, these cost .06 more than a 12ct box for $2.02 at my grocery store. come on Lehmans, why offer these in bulk if the price is so much higher?

These are wonderful. I recommend them to everyone I know that cans. Have never had one not seal.

My second review as I used up nearly all of my purchase of these from last year and I'm back for more. With over 600 jars of items canned over the year - I did not have a single failure. It is also far more economical to buy in bulk than in the little packs at your local store. If you can more than the average person this is the way to go. Love that I can get these in bulk through Lehmans - and no hesitation in ordering again and recommending to others.

These lids work great, seems they have little more sealing compound than the name brands, and they work great on the vintage Ball blue and clear jars which can have a bit thicker glass around the rim, we've used a sleeve already and have ordered another.

I bought both sizes and have had no seal failures! Great product. Kerr lids are now BPA free on their ad but these lids are still better by far! Also no logos on the lids so easy for me to label the jar lid which is a big plus.

Great buy. Clean and nice. One lid came with a little bend in it(probably due to shipping). I think I can still use it. Thats ok because I receieved 297 lids instead of the 288 advertised. Thanks Lehman's.

I can and preserve from three to four hundred jars of goods each year and got tired of running out of lids and then trying to find them at local stores, where they may or may not be available, and the prices were all over the board. Buying them in bulk, in a number to cover my needs made sense to me and your prices can't be beat. So, I just ordered next year's supply and now I won't have to worry about price increases or availability. I used these lids for the first time earlier this year and was very pleased with their quality. I found the seal to be generous and the product well made. I appreciate that the lids are blank on top, leaving plenty of room to write dates and label the contents.

I bought lids and rings in bulk great value and they work well. So happy they are not Ball Brand I have had bad luck with them. I can over 1500 jars each season of various fruits and veggies. This is very economical for me. Thank you.

I bought these 3-4 years ago. I'm thrilled to have found a source to get them in bulk! I haven't had any failures in the jars I've sealed with them! And the stuff that is more than a year old has remained sealed. I highly recommend them! In fact, I own a You-Pick apple orchard in a California. Many of my guests are also home canners, and I've been recommending these lids to them, and I finally put the link for these lids on the Ranch's Facebook page! Keep offering great deals on canning supplies Lehmans! I love them, and I'll keep buying them, and recommending them!

WHEN CANNING TIME COMES IT'S HARD TO FIND LIDS. I ORDERED THIS FALL, READY NOW AND FIT GREAT. THANK YOU.

Can't wait to use these. Great service.
Jun 28, 2012
I bought these for the first time last year as I didn't want to use the lids lined with BPA, and could not find lids in the stores in the winter. I can year round, so it is NOT a seasonal item for me. The seal rate is 100% plus I have plenty of lids to last all year. I highly recommend them and am glad I found them. I will be ordering again and keeping them stocked so I can preserve summer vegetables as well as dry beans and soups.

I had known about Lehmans for a long time but it never occurred to me to order bulk flat lids until this year, They are priced reasonably, and even though they were out of stock I got my order within a week, couldn't believe it. They are a great company, and a lot of interesting old fashioned things that are still made here in the USA. Yeah!
Mar 21, 2012
I've used these lids for about three years now, and haven't had any fail!
Feb 28, 2012
These lids are awesome! All of my jars sealed! They do not contain the cancer causing lining with BPA that both Ball and Kerr lids now have. If you haven't switched to these lids you should. Canning is a lot of work and having good lids is a must! Plus the price is competitive!
Feb 22, 2012
After reading the other reviews, I decided to go ahead and order these and boy am I glad I did! The only 'negative' is...they don't 'ping', but for the price, I can live with that! Every jar has sealed with no problem.

just got my lids in today and already used 4 of the reg. mouth lids worked great and at this price and amount of lids i'll be ordering more. thank you. simple gardener PNW

These have been working wonderfully and I was very pleased with the price. Have previously purchased the regular mouth and they have held up well for over 1 year of storage.

I've been ordering from Lehman's since before the internet, but I think this is the best buy I've ever gotten. I just ordered my second tube of these. I had had no failures in over 200 jars canned. These are really nicer than the name brand ones because the lids are blank, leaving more room for writing or labeling!
Oct 13, 2011
If you do a lot of canning, purchase these bulk sleaves of lids with no worries! They seal fine and boy is it nice to have that many lids on hand!
Jun 28, 2011
These are not cheap I can get lids for $1.99 a box of 12.
May 2, 2011
If you do home canning this is the best buy ever. I will never again purchase lids in the little 12 packs at the store...wish I'd bought them in bulk years ago. Fit perfect...sealed perfect - can't ask for more than that.
Apr 27, 2011
Knowing that the price of lids will increase with this canning season coming, I am so glad to have purchased this bulk lot. We have already used some of these lids canning beans and are very satisfied with the outcome -- all jars sealed properly and had that familiar snap when sealing. Thank you.
Apr 27, 2011
These just came in, and I haven't used them yet, but they do not have the plastic liner that the name brand lids now have, containing BPA, making it a better product in my opinion. The sealing ring is larger looks like it will seal better than the name brand.
Mar 11, 2011
I've never had a better canning lid. The quality on these exceed the name brands. The sealing compound is in a wider band, and the lids are heavier than some. I very rarely have a seal failure. I like the plain tops so I don't have to write around advertising. The convenience of having enough lids for a whole season or two is worth the order alone! I've had to share some with other canners who run short of lids and then couldn't find them in stores at the height of the season, and I have them handy even when I'm canning out of season. I recommend them without qualification.
Feb 10, 2011
Finally lids within price range. Thank you Lehman's.

These lids are made by JARDEN (makers of Ball, Kerr, Golden Harvest, and Bernardin canning lids). They are the same thing as Ball lids (I've seen the actual shipping cartons) and now have the same white-plastic coating on the inside of the lid. They are no longer uncoated. Also, they no longer have rubber gaskets but PLASTIC gaskets (plastisol, to be exact). The plastic melts easily, so the Jarden websites have special handling instrutions for their lids now. These will work as well as any of the other Jarden lids out there. Oh, I almost forgot . . . because they're made with plastic gaskets, now, do NOT store them in tins or other closed containers. The outgassing is disgusting, and the smell will make your canning session less than fun. I was told to store them in the paper sleeve they're packed in, so that the outgassing can go into the air and not remain concentrated in my storage tins. Disgusting, really . . . sure do wish we had the old Kerr lids back . . . wishin' ain't gettin', though . . .

I've been using these for serval years now, and never had one fail! Great quality!
Sep 27, 2010
NICE flats. Heavier weight than I expected. Seals cover jar well. EVEN better that they are USA made!
Sep 25, 2010
Lids don't have the center button like Ball Lids but they work just fine. Great value for the home canner.
Aug 7, 2010
I did the math and sorry to say I can purchase lids less expensively from the supermarket.(at regular prices) I really like the idea of buying a sleeve of several hundred, and not have to deal with all those little boxes with one or two lids left in them but there you have it.
Jan 27, 2010
This is my second order for canning lids. First order was for regular lids only. This order was for both sizes. I will never buy lids in stores again. They are the same lids without the writing on them. Leaves plenty of space for me to write on.Glad I found them in your catalog and online.

Bought the small lids last year to give them a try, buying the wide mouths this year! These are excellent lids, sturdy and always a seal. It's a large quantity for me, but I always have plenty and no little boxes of 2 here and 3 there! Love it, thank you Lehman's!
Oct 27, 2009
I threw them in the garbage can. They smell like rubber chemicals. Just like some of the Ball lids. I will not cook food with this sleeve of chemical petroleum lids. Tom

I was so pleased to find a sleeve of caninng jar lids for sale here on the Leman's website. I do a lot of canning and it is not always possible to purchase enough canning jar lids for the canning season (Which can be 8-9 months a year here in the south). Often I would have to go every store within a 25 mile radius to find the lids and one year i had to drive 35 miles. That was a great expense and I lost a lot of productive time just travelling. I have already used a good 1/3 of the sleeve and the lids sealed beautifully, no problems. This was a good purchase and provides peace of mind knowing that i won't have to scramble to find lids and that I can always buy more from Lehman's if it looks as though I'll run out.
