I make yogurt weekly and have been through6 thermometers, all of which have failed: the numbers were too small; the thermometer needed to be calibrated almost weekly; the thermometer could not be calibrated, and markings for the degrees wore off (into my yogurt mix, YUCK!). This was very disappointing and I was VERY EXCITED when I discovered the Dairy Thermometer. I think it could be PERFECT! The numbers are easy to read. Because it's encased in glass, I do not think it will become uncalibrated. The markings are inside the glass container, which can be easily washed by hand. I don't understand how it floats, but that isn't important to me. I have a clip-on spoon rack on my pot and the bulbous part to the thermometer rests in it perfectly to suspend it while I am heating the milk to 180 degrees and during the cool down process. I have to say the batch of yogurt I made using my new dairy thermometer is the best batch I have ever made. I do like that I can store it in the box that it came in until it's time to make the yogurt again next week. Nothing like a tool that does exactly what it is supposed to do --- and it looks great to boot! Thank you.

I had one of these for 15 years and broke mine recently. I ordered this one from Lehman's and it is just like my old one. I make yogurt and cheese with, it but it is useful for other things too. Keep the box to keep it in to protect it.

Best thermometer I have ever had! It REALLY is a must-have if you, like us, make our own yogurt.

I love this thermometer. It's the best I have ever used. Seems to be accurate and really easy to clean and use. My only suggestion is to keep the box and store in its box because it's glass.
