We use this when canning tomato sauce. Cook the tomatoes whole, mashing them in our huge stock pot with this, then put through the Victorio strainer to separate pulp and juice from skin and seeds. Much faster and easier than coring and peeling many lbs. of tomatoes!

I was in a rush when ordering and totally missed just how giant this masher is--it's much larger than what I need for my small family. The masher is hefty, well balanced and beautifully made, so much so that I decided to keep it. If you're cooking for a crowd, this should serve you well.
