Used it immediately

I used it almost immediately to light my path to the chicken coop during a power outage. Exactly what itmeant for, and the reflectors made my path wide and easy. I love my homesteaders lantern!

Flimsy. The thin sheet metal was bent upon arrival - Lehman's packed it well, but I suspect it was bent from the factory. Doors have a terrible design to keep them latched - pressure-based, and fall open with the slightest movement. The lamp that comes with it is not good quality. The reflectors are a nice idea, though.

I bought this mainly to use for emergency lighting, however, I use the removable lamp almost daily. I would have given it 5 stars if it was brighter. It works great but since it is marketed as a lantern rather than a chamber lamp, I feel it should be much brighter and use a flat wick. Even with the side panels closed it simply does not put out a very impressive amount of light. That being said, I would still recommend buying it. Swap the removable lamp with something brighter and you have a great lantern. Then take the old removable out and you have a great chamber lamp. Overall a great value, uses very little oil, and unlike some others I found the construction to be of ample sturdiness for the job.

This is a cool lamp. I bought it because I collect antique oil lamps. I have never come across lamp that has sides that open to reflect light forward like this does. I agree with other reviewers that it's more of a decorative or stationary lamp and not one of high durability. It looks great sitting along side my other lamps though. It did come with a small crack in the glass chimney so I wouldn't test it by putting flame to it, but I like the crack because it makes this unique lamp look more antique. It's an awesome show piece!

Very nice lamp, but a little delicate so handle carefully.

I really like this little lantern. I bought it to take camping as an alternative to nosy propane lights. I have several other oil lanterns and I like them a lot. While the construction isnt the best I do think it will last. The lantern itself is smaller than I though and does not put out as much light as I hoped but I still like it and will use it. It does take a little tweaking get everything right. For the money I think that this lantern is awesome, but I am not as picky as some people are. I enjoy working and tweaking items to get them to work as I want them to.

Looks nice, opens as advertised. Is not very bright even with doors open. Hard to get lamp and chimney out without chance of burning fingers. Small, fragile chimney. Probably should have bought a regular oil lamp.

This item requires a little fit and finish to make it function. The lamp floats too easily on arrival. This can be cured by bending up the four tabs on the underside of the holder. The hooks that hold back the reflectors need tweaking to keep them from falling out of place on the side panels.
