What does this filter take out? This Lifestraw filter removes 99.9% of waterborne bacteria (including E. coli and salmonella), waterborne protozoa (including Giardia and Cryptosporidium), some chemicals (like chlorine) and some pesticides and fertilizers. It also reduces turbidity, filtering down to 0.2 microns. (Does NOT remove heavy metals, viruses or chemicals, like chlorine.)
To clean: Just hand rinse with water and leave uncapped to dry.
Helpful Hint: When your LifeStraw's flow rate has decreased and stops pulling water through, it is time to dispose of it. If you clean it after each use, this will help increase its lifespan.
