I received the 2.5 in oval chimney, and the lamp now works like a champ. Small for this lamp, so let it warm up for about 10 minutes before going full blast.

Hold on folks, don't everyone order new chimneys. It looks like the chimney blocks poorly placed vent or inlet holes on bottom outside of burner dome, so you need a chimney to fit over burner including the chimney hold fingers. Where it's all inside chimney. It now works like a champ. Probably most traditional lamp chimneys laying around will do. Use caution as chimney will be loose
Lehman's says: Those are great suggestions!

The reason with low brightness and wicks burning out is the wrong chimney is supplied. Need the 2.5 in oval chimney, shaped like traditional oil lamp chimneys, but with a 2.5 in base. It's really amazing that this was not tested before marketing. The burner also does not come apart for cleaning,or replacing the wick. I can't believe a fine company like Aladdin endorsed this product without testing it themselves.
Lehman's says: There are several factors that can effect the brightness of a oil lamp. The larger the wick, the brighter the light will be. This particular lamp features a 1" wick so it should be quite bright. Our recommended replacement chimney for this lamp is one with a 2 1/2" OD and 12 5/8" height featuring a 4 1/4" bulge. Please keep in mind however that while the OD of the chimney must be maintained, the diameter of the bulge and height of the chimney are independent factors and can be chosen based upon personal preference and aesthetics.

Beautiful lamp! Came with wicks that were 3/16" too narrow...but customer service sent the correct wicks immediately. Great customer service! I was impressed with the quality of the lamp due to it being made in China...a very nice lamp! It is a large lamp, so you need a high ceiling. Looks great...works great! I want another one!!

I give this lamp a 3 star rating because it is certainly a beautiful lamp. The trouble is, I can't get it to work well. I have tried different wicks, different oil, but no matter what I do I cannot get it to give off much light. A little jar lamp will do just as well. Lehman's have been good to send me a different fitting for the wick, but same results. I will just have to admire its prettiness, but other than that it is useless, unless electrified, I guess.
