I had heard of similar solutions but this this the first I've tried.

Have to give it more time for a fair review but have been quite pleased so far. I am trying it on a 5 bladed razor with very good results. Sure hope the effect continues to work as well as seems to be doing now. I am shaking the razor dry and placing it so it remains so after using the instrument. Hopefully, higher rating to follow after more use.
So far, so good.

This simple gizmo looks like it wouldn't work. I've only used it once. But I took a disposable Track II razor and ran it over the surface a couple of times. Bingo! The blade is like new again. Will it keep working? Time will tell. I give this four rather than five stars because the product is still new to me.
I was skeptical...

...but the price was right and I thought if it did work even a little that'd be an improvement on tossing used razors. It works! I will be getting them as stocking stuffers for every guy that I buy for. My honey uses a triple bladed razor and I use an occasional disposable for trips and they both sharpened up really quickly, really noticeably.
Superb!

WOW! This works! I have purchased items from Lehman's and LOVE this company on so many levels. I thought since Lehman's was selling this item it must work as stated, so I took a chance. I was NOT disappointed one bit. After a couple swipes I proceeded to get into the shower and shave my legs. Ooppsss! I nicked myself and I haven't done that in a VERY long time. The razor was SHARP! I love this little gadget and Lehman's!

I've had one of these for years. I use it on a couple of older, thinner razors I have and the blades last so long (months and months), I lose tract of how long since I've changed them. Obviously my razor blade expenses are minimal!

Bought my first one and it works well. What this does is deburr and gently sharpens the disposable razor. Once the glass plate inside came loose but hot glue fixed it. I am buying more for my sons. But do not leave your razors soaking in water, bet to leave up vertical to dry after each use. This pays for itself hands-down!

I asked for one of these for Christmas a few years ago. I can get a Mach 3 blade to last more than 12 months at 4 shaves a week. This thing is amazing. I keep adding a link to Lehmans every time I see one of those Dollar Shave Club things come up on FaceBook. People should be buying this instead.

I purchased this item in March or 2013 and decided to wait before giving my review. WOW! What a surprise! IT REALLY WORKS! I have only used TWO disposible blades in the 16 months that I have used it! It is AMAZING how well it works! Great Product!
Mar 15, 2014

I bought 7 sharpeners recently. I have a friend who travels globally and wants to distribute these to his good workers. I had given him one for Christmas. It's a good product.

Order it!! You will not be disappointed! This is one of the coolest things that we have bought in a super long time. This really really works!! Can not say enough good things about this simple little product. Blades are crazy expensive. This is a money saver!!!

We were so pleased with our Razor Sharpener (that we have had for YEARS) that I ordered 4 of these as Christmas gifts. Save yourself a small fortune and order one.

This item seemed to work but the glass came detached from the plastic. Sadly, I have never got around to putting Gorilla Glue on it and trying it again.

When I got this thing back in May, I figured I'd see how well it extends the life of a new, major brand name, 3-blade disposable razor. It is the end of October and I haven't replaced that first blade yet.
Jul 10, 2013

This is a great product that paid for itself in about a month for me. I can't believe something this simple is so economic.
Jun 17, 2013

After about fifteen years of using mine, it's worn out and I'm back for another. I can't calculate the savings in blades that this has afforded.
Jun 15, 2013

Can someone please tell me if they tried this on Gillette Mach (2 blade) cartridge and if it worked well? Thank you.
May 20, 2013

My husband and I enjoy ours so much (and have saved so much money not buying new blades) that we have given this as a gift to three other people!

My wife purchased this razor sharpener about 6 months ago. I'm still using the same disposable triple blade razor. I sharpen it about once a week, and it keeps working. The moistening strip on the razor is now starting to fall off the razor head, I guess it wasn't meant to keep working after 6 months!

The Razor Saver ($12.95) actually works. I had an old two-bladed safety razor ready to be tossed out so I shaved half of my face with it first... ouch. Then I steeled my old safety razor with the Razor Saver and shaved the other half of my face. Wow, it was a world of difference. The Razor Saver must steel the razor blades rather than grind and hone them. The Razor Saver is just a strip of glass inside of a protective plastic enclosure. Note that a safety razor has raised plastic edges to hold its blades. Therefore, the steeling or honing object must fit down between the plastic edges. The steeling glass of the Razor Saver is 1 1/4 wide which allows it to fit between the plastic edges where are 1 7/16 apart. You just hold your safety razor and the Razor Saver under running water and run it back and forth 4-5 times at a 45 degree angle. Steeling a knife is somewhat counterintuitive since you stroke the blade forward into the steeling material; you worry that you may be dulling the blade!. Knife experts say that you should steel a knife 100 times for every time that you actually grind and sharpen it. Dulling of a blade is overwhelmingly from bends and nicks in the blade rather than from the blade losing it's actual sharpness. Stropping does the same thing as steeling except that you use a leather strap. http://www.sustainablevillage.com/index.php?route=product/product&path=64&product_id=53 (the art of blade steeling, honing and sharpening): http://zknives.com/knives/articles/wssteeling.shtml An alternative is a leather strop that is 1 1/2 wide and does not fit down between the plastic edges of the safety razor. Perhaps, the strap may bend enough to do so; however, it is much larger than the Razor Saver but may bring back fonder memories of your barbershop days than a small clean plastic box: http://www.dailygrommet.com/products/razor-renew-leather-strop ; http://andrewtobias.com/column/cosmic-fifties-razor-strop-pinball/ I prefer the Razor Saver that can be tucked away after use in your medicine cabinet and is cheaper to boot.

Advice from one frugal shaver to another...buy this once and spend your saved money on funner things again and again...it's both green and keeps green in your wallet!
Jan 29, 2013

Will this work with the Mach 3?
Jan 22, 2013

I wanted to test this to see how long it could keep a razor sharp so I wrote on a calendar when I started using a new razor. After 6 months, it seemed almost as sharp as when it was new and I had visions of getting it to last a year...and almost made it. The last several weeks were really rough though and I had to stop about two weeks short of it lasting the full year. Not quite my goal, but not bad!

After reading all the positive comments regarding this sharpener, I knew this would make a great gift. I bought several for gifts and one for myself. Saved even more money when they went on sale on Lehman's 12 Days of Christmas offer. Everyone loves this sharpener... it really does work.
Dec 5, 2012

With this a razor can last months. and those things are expensive! I am buying lots to give at Christmas.
Aug 27, 2012

I admit to having been a skeptic, but do to the cost of razors I gave it a try. At first (due to the lack of directions) I had little success--it actually seemed to make the blades worse. Then I figured out that I needed to hold the blade against the glass at the same angle I used to place the blade against my face. A little water on the glass, one finger on the back of the blade, the others wrapped around the handle and start gentle, long strokes up the glass. Also, I learned to use more strokes as the blade aged--usually over 50 good strokes by the time the blade reached a month old. My guess is that the glass is not truly sharpening the blade, but actually polishing the rust off of it and working all the microscopic burrs to the edge of the blade, making it feel smoother against the skin. Don't give up--it does work.

I have used the sharpener a couple of times and I was amazed just how well it worked. The blades in my opinion were sharper than when they came from the manufacturer. Great product and I will recommend this item to others as well. I have already recommended your company and catalog to numerous other persons and hope they too will be as satisfied with your company as I am. Thanks for a great job.

This is a REAL money saver! We are nearing the end of Feb. and I have been using the same disposable razor since mid Dec.! I think the plastic holding the blades will break before it ever gets dull! The only type of razor, besides a straight razor, that wouldn't work well with this sharpener would be some of the women's wide-grip razors. If you don't get directions with yours as seems to have been a problem for some of the other reviewers, it is simple to use. Wet the sharpener's inside or use under running water. Place the razor head on the inside, bottom surface, blade(s) down, and simply move the razor back and forth as if you are trying to shave it. Repeat approx. 20 times. It only takes a few seconds but has saved me huge money since I also have to supply a husband and two teen-age sons' razors. You can use it every time but I have had excellent success with using the sharpener every other shave. Very smooth shave!! I will be buying at least 1 more for the boys' bathroom and probably several more as gifts.
Dec 28, 2011

I bought this a few years ago on a lark. But it really does work. With 3 men shaving in the house + me it has saved us quite a bit of money. I bought one for a friend of mine for christmas, he kind of looked at it like WHAT? LOL until everyone backed me up that it really works. In this economy I could not imagine being w/o one. Makes a wonderful gift.
Dec 21, 2011

This sharpener works well. However, the product description fails to warn that not all disposables fit in the sharpening area due to razor-design features, such as height or width. This is a key point and more details (such as product dimensions) should be given, not omitted.

Outstanding product. I have buying the same disposable razors for years and thought they were great because I could get about 6 shaves per razor before I could not bear it any more. I could get two comfortable shaves per razor. I saved some of my 6 shave razors and ordered this device and am getting better, more comfortable shaves with the sharpened blades that I did with the new blades. This thing is great! Wish I had thought of it!
Sep 9, 2011

We bought this device over a year ago and have been very satisfied with it. The idea behind it, as far as I can tell, is about maintaining an already sharp blade from microscopic bends, warps, and deterioration (just like a leather strop helps a razor maintain its edge). So, while this device won't grind down your blades and take something that is already quite dull and make it like new, it WILL help you keep a good, sharp blade sharp and useful for much longer than usual. Also, make sure to DRY your razor after use to help prevent microscopic rusting of the metal. Start with quality blades, use this device regularly, and blot your blades dry after use. All these work together to keep your blades sharp longer.

Good product, works as advertised
Jan 3, 2011

Brilliant! This really works. I was a little skeptical in the beginning but after giving it a try I am convinced that this really gets rid of the burrs off the blade. Normally I changed my cartridge every two weeks, now I change every 10 weeks!! It also makes me feel good that I am not wasting and in some ways helps to reduce my personal carbon footprint!!
Dec 13, 2010

Works great. My husband & I have been using ours for over 2 years and plan to give them as Christmas gifts. The only concern was that the razor didn't fit in the plastic housing. So we took it apart, marked the top, & only use the inside. It works best wet & on a flat surface.
Dec 3, 2010

Seemed too good to be true, but for the price and based on previous reviews, I thought I would give it a try. I use the most popular brand of 3 blade cartridge razors. I have very sensitive facial skin and after 7 shaves, it begins to irritate my face and I have to use a new cartridge. I started using this after 6 days into a cartridge and am now finishing up my 4th week of shaving every day on the same cartridge.
Nov 24, 2010

Seems to be working well. Have told several friends - most of whom say they will order product. How do I get them a catalog. They keep borrowing mine, then, they want to keep it.
Nov 1, 2010

Almost can't believe it. It does work! I had tried a similar battery-operated device that seemed to do nothing. This one works much as those old razor straps worked. It uses a mirror-like smooth finish to realign the blade. I'm happy to say it was better than I ever expected. Even old Good News razors that I was ready to throw away felt like they were new. I'm very glad I bought this item.
Oct 10, 2010

This works great. It's quick, easy, and it's saved me a bundle on razor blades. Just hold it at the bevel angle on the razor, and pull to hone the edge.
Sep 7, 2010

This works exactly like promised. It is the best thing I have found for shaving. I can stop having to buy blades all the time. This thing will pay for it's self in a month or two. Great product can't recommend it enough!!!
Aug 3, 2010

I've used one of these for years and it does greatly extend the life of those expensive razor blades. I hate throwing those used blades away, knowing they're going to a landfill where the plastic parts will last for who knows how long, so at least this way I can reduce how much I add to the landfill problem, even in this small way. Considering the cost of razor blades, you recoup the cost of the razor sharpener quickly!
Aug 1, 2010

I have seen these for many years and finally decided to try it. To my amazement it actually works. I've even sharpened my double edge razor, have to make sure and hold it at proper angle, and it works perfectly. I do not understand a bad review as I found it works exactly as advertised!
Apr 23, 2010

Save your money. This is a rip off. Does not do the job as advertized.
Apr 18, 2010

As another reviewer stated, no instructions come with the device, and my cartridges last only one week longer (5 weeks) than without using the device (4 weeks). A 25% increase isn't bad, but it's not the miracle life extender the other testimonials led me to believe. Maybe I need to find the Australian Navy manual referred to by another reviewer.
Mar 1, 2010

FANTASTIC! Really works! Been looking for something that would do this for years, and here it is. Who knows how long a single disposable cartridge will last now? So far, a looooong time.
Feb 11, 2010

The outside case is too narrow to fit my Schick razor inside. After removing the outside I was able to use it and it does a fantastic job.
Dec 22, 2009

Ok, this thing is little more than a piece of glass in a plastic box. Am I supposed to believe that glass will sharpen steel - or that the box is designed to maintain the proper sharpening angle - it ain't. And made in Chine too!
Nov 26, 2009

Great Product! Could definitely use some instructions, but you figure things out pretty quickly. Im able to extend the life of my blades for or five times what I wa getting before. A great investment, and has paid for itself already in just a few months.
Oct 31, 2009

I ordered one of these and found it was very useful. It saved me a great deal of money in razor blades. I am ordering another one because my spouse dropped it in the shower and broke it. At the price it costs, even if I have to replace it every couple of years, I am fine with that. I have spent a fortune in razor blades since it broke. I would appreciate more explicit instructions on the way to use the sharpener. I am never sure it is sharp enough and how to know that before I start shaving. I am also unsure about how many times I can actually resharpen blades before they are too worn out to use.
Sep 26, 2009

I've used one one of these for several years now- believe it or not this December will be two years I have used the same twin-blade disposable razor, almost every day. Anyone who balks at the price (and constant upgrading) of safety razors should get one and keep it with their razor- I use mine every couple shaves. Just run some water into it and slide the blade surface back and forth a few times. Pays for itself when you see how much razors cost. Get one!
Sep 11, 2009

I ordered this product from Lehman's maybe six years ago. It does work pretty well. I keep mine in the shower because that is a good place to shave.Instruction for it's use are not provided. If they had I could have saved time. I almost tossed mine before I learned to use it properly. An old Austrailian Navy handbook, explained how to use a piece of glass to sharpen razor blades. It is worth the purchase price I am thinking of buying more to give to my grandsons.
