I bought this cutter a couple of years ago and found it hard to use. The blades are simply stainless steel strips and do not have a sharp edge, nor will they sharpen to a decent edge. This item is made in China and looks ok but does not function well. It too way too much effort to use this for a batch of sauerkraut. I found a nice antique one and cleaned it up, worked much better.
No that great

I bought this shredder in 9/2016 and here is my assessment; the first use was ok but there were 2 problems. #1 it cuts the cabbage very course and you can't adjust the blades. #2 I got some chunks of wood from the box you put the cabbage in to shred the cabbage. When I looked at the bottom of it you could see where it came from. I have only used it twice now and I just looked at it this morning to compare it with the stainless steel one I just received to replace it, and the wood is already cracked at one of the screws. I haven't touched the screws so I'm not sure why it's cracked already. It seems to be fairly cheap wood so that could be why. It's very dry and thin. I bought this one to replace the one that used to be my grandpa's, his had the blades rusting and all the screws where rusty so decided it was time to retire it. That was about 60 or more years old and the wood was in better shape than this one. Sad. I have now sent 2 emails (can't get anyone to actually answer the phone) so we'll see how long it takes someone to call me back.

Not sturdy enough for mass quantities. I make my own sauerkraut and this thing is so flimsy and blades are all that sharp and made from cheap materials you can't sharpen. I finally found one at a flea market that was made sometime in the fifties with a triple blade and I junked this thing. My flea market on was only $20.

I found this to be a great cutter. I make sauerkraut in small batches. But it puts a head down in less than 1-2 minutes depending on the head size. It is not adjustable though and the cuts are rather coarse not fine, I would not call it shredded.

I make about 80-100 pounds of sauerkraut each year and I have looked for a new cabbage cutter for some time. This is the only product I found that looked like it might serve the purpose but found was not sturdy enough for anything but making some coleslaw. Generally disappointed and wish Lehman's would find a better product to go with all their other fine products.

Bought TWO of these cutters. Used one for about three heads of cabbage while making 12 gallons of kraut. The blades are not stiff enough and the first blade heaves up cutting chips of wood from the moveable box......which must be fished out from the grated cabbage. Got my antique cutter off the wall to finish the job. Contacted my sister, to whom I had loaned the second cutter, and found out she had a similar experience. Not passing comment on the quality of the wood work because the lack of quality in the blades renders this product useless.

This is a terrible product, and it is MADE IN CHINA. I would have never purchased it if I had known that. In the catalog I had, it does say IMPORTED, but I missed that. It broke the second time it was used. Cheaply made, cheap materials. Just what you would expect from a China product. DO NOT BUY THIS ITEM!!!

Just want you to know that I love my cabbage shredder. We love coleslaw but hate to make it. All of the electric products that I have used makes it soupyand the metal hand shredder makes a terrible mess. Your shredder is absolutely perfect. I couldn't be happier. Thank you Von

This does NOT have dovetailed joints. I hope that it holds up anyway. I purchased it because of that description.

A bulky ill designed product. The cabbage jams in the blades or is cut in large chunks that then need to be worked over with a knife. As soon as I can find a box big enough I am going to return it.
