European Ash Snath Handle

"One of the best snaths out there! My only complaint is that it does not fit the tang angle of my grass blade that I bought from another company. Strangely it fits the tang angle of my brush blade from them perfectly. I may just have to shim the grass blade."

"I just spent 2 hours mowing with this snath, fitted with a 60cm blade also from Lehmans. I'm thrilled at how well they work together - and this is my first time using a scythe. The snath is quite sturdy, the craftsmanship is evident throughout - it feels good in your hands. I took the time to oil the wood throughly before using it, anticipating a long relationship with this fine tool. One downside - before I could assemble the snath, I had to make a quick trip to the hardware store, as the 2 nuts, washers, and one bolt that are needed to attach the handles had gone missing from my shipment. That minor inconvenience is far outweighed by my delight with the performance of the scythe. Keep the blade sharp !"

"I admit that I had high expectations, but I was disappointed with some of the accessories for this snath. Most of the product is fantastic, well made and sturdy. However, I was tightening the ring around the blade and one side of the ring simply popped lose (long before I ever "cranked" down on it). I contacted Lehmans and they quickly sent me another hardware kit, but it turned out that that kit doesn't include the ring. When I called back, they couldn't find it and had to transfer me to the store and I left a voicemail for the guy who would know. That gentleman called me back in the next day or so and advised that he understood what was broken, but they were out and he would need to order some more and would let me know. Still waiting for that to pan out, I've had the snath for almost a month now. All in all I would say this is a good product, but the ring is poorly designed, not at all what other manufacturers are using, and for someone who was jumping to cut hay, the hold-up on the ring has been a big disappointment."
