The Amish Hoe
Apr 20, 2017

Absolutely the best hoe on the market. I actually ordered 2 different sizes. This was probably 2008. One needs a new handle but I'm still using the other one. I am almost 79..female with crippling arthritis so using any tool is very painful at times, but if I outlast this hoe, I will order another one!

Have had this hoe for a number of years and it is wonderful. Sharpens well and has the correct blade size to get under things. Hope the new ones are as good as the one I bought awhile back. Have to put my name on it every year to keep it from straying with someone else.
Not as good as I hoped for

Blade end was welded in a funky angle weld itself was bad the wood handle had lump in the mulling where your upper hand would go making it uncomfortable to use.
Lehman's says: Our sincere apologies. Please give us a call, so we can make it right: 1-800-438-5346.

Just used your hoe for the first time, boy it works slicker than #%$&, I'm glad I made this purchase thanks again, great product. Greg

A hoe that works! The side is great when clearing weeds from around the perennials and the sharp flat end takes care of deep weeds without too much heavy work. I love it.

I love this hoe! Extra sharp blade makes it great for slicing off weeds and the sides work really well for getting around my perennials without damage. Especially easy for my vegetable garden, where plants are in rows. Well made and the long handle and angled head meant I could work easily without back strain.

I bought the 7 inch hoe recently and am very happy with it. The way it's designed to be thin, and narrow gets under the soil like nothing I've ever used before. Some have claimed it to be too thin, but in order for it work like it does it needs to be so. Very happy with the product.

Excellent hoe for any garden with good soil. The clay and rock I have caused the blade to form a narrow V with each heavy use, and straightening it back out many times caused the blade to crack and break after about 4 years. Superior hoe, just be aware of the downside of its lightness. I feel I got my money's worth out of it, and am ordering another. The Amish know better than to buy land with my soil, so it's pretty impressive the hoe lasted as long as it did with the heavy use I gave it. The blade that broke was the 7. I'm going with 5, hoping it will be less prone to the stresses of the heavy soil, especially when using it on edge.

I've been away on travel for work, and needless to say the weeds have gotten away on me in the garden. However, my new Amish-made garden hoe, with its slim head and sharp edges, made short work of my over-run melon patch last night! The head angle allowed me to stand at a comfortable angle, without the resulting pull in the abdominal muscles that my other hoes create. Now, if you could make the same hoe with a deeper head more suitable for hilling potatoes, I'd have it made. Thanks for another great product!

I ordered one of these last year. My mom had a thin one for years and years and I loved it. Now it has worn out and can't find anything like it locally. I am ordering another one so both my hubby and I can have togetherness time in the garden!

I've had this hoe for over a year, using it for 3 seasons. The other morning I pledged to write this review because I'm so impressed with it. This how is SHARP, stays sharp, is light, sturdy, and well-balanced. It's the only tool I have that works well in hard, dry, weedy soil. In normal soil, it's amazing. I have the medium size, and' it's pretty easy to control. If I have a weedy tomato, for instance, I'll move the plant to one side and cut the weeds, operating the hoe with just my right hand. I think my garden is better off because I take more pleasure in weeding with this hoe. I'm going to get a second one right now.

Great working tool. Love how it cuts. The iron cracked once, had it welded. Then it broke off completely. Looked like original weld was ground down causing it to be weak.

We had the five-inch hoe from Lehman's, but my wife or I always had to wait to use it, since whoever got to it first got to use it. To solve the problem, I ordered the seven-inch hoe. Now, we both have one to use, as these are the best hoes we have used.

My three fellow gardener volunteers and I maintain a a large garden for the Food Bank of Central and Eastern North Carolina. Because I already owned one of these hoes, I bought 2 of them for the food bank garden. One of my fellow gardeners likes it so much that I am now buying another one for him. He also runs a food garden for his church, so it will get plenty of use. It is the best garden hoe I have ever used.

I have been looking for a hoe such as this one for a while now. It's like the hoe my mother used for many years. I was so excited to find it in your catalog. I received my new hoe last week and I couldn't be more pleased. It's exactly what I was looking for. The quality seems to be very good and boy, does it cut the weeds! The small head gets under plants very well. I know I'll use this hoe for many years. Thank you for offering it in your catalog.

Like the hoe I remember from my grandparents' farm -- the right shape to work easily in and around plants. Also has a very nice sharp edge, which is easily resharpened when necessary. Quality-made. I expect to have this for decades to come. Very happy with this purchase!
