As a heads up, this cast iron is coated in paraffin wax at the manufacturers. This means the hot metal was dipped into hot wax and allowed to cool. Do yourself a favor take them outside and put them in your bbq, campfire or weed burner and burn off the wax. You will have to do this step whether you use hot water and soap or not, because the wax has penetrated the iron. This also prevents your smoke alarm from screaming at you if you try to burn off the wax inside. Once you've removed the wax and seasoned your iron, you are ready to enjoy your waffles, eggs and bacon sandwiches, or just plain waffles if you're a traditionalist. This makes the perfect size waffles to freeze and toast up later for those middle of the night munchies or outdoor trips. The only reason for 4 stars is not knowing about the wax and the amount of wax on the waffle iron. I will be buying a second one to put into my camping gear.
