Just got the pump-I had to double check the catalog because the look definitely had China made all over it. The paint was chipping and has already started to rust. The finish on the metal is equivalent to my 1940 tractor transmission, wavy and burred. The cylinder appears to be off center and the long bolts are not even. Looks pretty bad but I am waiting on plumbing parts to install. Were it not so heavy to ship I would probably send it back. If I wanted the junk looking one I would have saved the $200.

So far so good. The pump is in our miniature donkey pen bringing up water from a creek so my job of getting water for the two is much easier. The pump was just installed this week. We have pretty cold winters but this won't freeze, right?

We've used this pump daily in our off-the-grid home in the woods for close to a decade now and it's given excellent service. It's installed next to the kitchen sink and pumps water from a cistern that's slightly over 100 feet away from the house and downhill.Because of harsh winters, we've gotten into the habit of raising the handle after use to drain water back into the cistern so the pipe won't freeze. Priming the pump and bringing water back up to the house is a cinch. The faucet-type spout makes controlling and directing the flow of water from the pump easy, so there's no spray and splashing.
