Perfection Oven
Mar 1, 2014

On first use on top of my small wood stove the black paint burned off the bottom filling my home with probably toxic fumes, setting of the smoke alarm, and leaving a yellow powder covering the inside front of the oven. The thermometer on the front of the oven never went above 400 when this happened.
Lehman's says: I'm sorry you were disappointed. This oven is not made for woodstoves, which put too much heat on the exterior and sides of the box. It works fine, without the burn off problem, on gas and kerosene stoves, where the heat is focused on the inside of the oven only. We would be happy to accept the return of your stove, since we want you to be satisfied. --Galen Lehman, CEO

The oven is VERY expensive for a painted metal box. I use it with a single 30K BTU burner on a camp stove. It will hold 400 degree heat with the burner on medium and works well. The latches require pot holders to use. One of mine is stripped and rotates completely around. I bought it to be used on outdoor adventures because it is big enough to be useful for pizza and a small cookie sheet for biscuits ETC. Improvements would be a spring loaded door with an heat insulated handle and a window. The box is easy to overheat and burn the paint. 500 would be the absolute max. Another reviewer had an issue with yellow powder on the door. I think the powder looking substance was caused by overheating the paint. This is NOT a porcelain coated oven it is a painted metal box that works as an oven.

Works very well, Large size will take large pans. I use it on my Ashley wood stove. Can maintain over 400 degrees if need be.

after heating a yellow powder covered the front door. cleaning with soap and water did not remove the discoloring. we are disappointed and worried about what this might be.
Lehman's says: We're sorry you had this problem! Some oil is used in the manufacture of all steel products. It may turn yellow when heated. Once heated, it is inert (but very hard to remove). To prevent this, we recommend wiping out the inside of the oven before using.
