Great belt but need help installing it
Nov 24, 2018
Can someone please walk me through installing this belt? Thank you,
Lehman's says: Simply thread the belt around the large wheel under the cabinet of the machine, then bring it up to loop over the small wheel on the side of the machine. If needed, adjust the tension of the belt around the wheels by cutting it to the length that is tight enough to freely turn the wheels but not slip. Simply press the open end of the belt into the other end of the belt that has the metal connector in it. And you're ready to sew!
Excellent in every way!

We collect antique machines and I always disliked the appearance of a new leather belt on a machine from the 1870s. These are everything I wanted and more. We now carry Lehman's belts in our inventory when we hold our Sew Purty Workshops teaching folks to restore and preserve antique and vintage machines. All of our customers love the belts too, both the aesthetic appeal and the ease of installation! As long as Lehman's carries these belts, we will be using and stocking belts exclusively from Lehman's.
So much easier than leather!

I repair sewing machines as a volunteer at my local Habitat for Humanity Restore. These belts are so much easier to get on that the leather ones and available at a better price. Thank you!
Just what I needed

I was restoring an old machine and had never installed a belt on a treadle machine. This was was easy to use and installed without any problems. I am so glad the belt worked and Lehman's had just what I needed.
Great treadle belt!

I bought this belt two years ago when I was restoring a 1910 Singer 27 treadle. I'm so happy with the way this belt has performed that I am now purchasing a second one for my newly acquired Singer 115 treadle. Great belt, easy to set up, and does the job it's supposed to do.

I was restoring a vintage miniature sewing machine which has a hand crank, belt-driven mechanism. The original belt was on it, but was falling to pieces. I thought I could find a replacement given that I had the exact belt I needed in hand. Not so. My husband found this belt online and we figured it was worth a try. The fact that you can cut the belt to size made it perfect for my little machine. I only needed about a third of the length, cut off the rest and closed the loop with the ingenious connector. Voila!! My little machine is fully functional. Yay!

I recently changed my treadle belt but was looking for a easier solution for replacing a treadle belt when I ordered yours. Just love the connector and I think you have a winner here.

Fit my antique Singer perfectly!

I was surprised -- this belt was a couple of inches shorter than the leather belt it replaced, but it went on easily and fits perfectly. And as a bonus, it looks great (and it doesn't leave a sprinkle of old powdered-leather dust on the work surface!).
Finally found what I needed!

I looked around locally for the belt I need for my mother's sewing machine and couldn't find one. She died in Jan, 2015, and I wanted to keep her machine "alive" as long as I could, as I am her only child who actually learned how to use it. Thanks for having just what I need and it was a really easy install!

I just replaced the original leather belt on my new to me treadle, a 1909 Model 66 Singer. The belt fit great and I only needed one despite the leather belt having measured longer than the replacement rubber one. It was an easy install (can be done with a three year old and one year old helping) and though not original, blends in well with the machine without looking too modern. All in all, a great belt for great machines!

Great product! This design made for an easy replacement. I will never buy a leather belt again.

I have 3 old treadle sewing machines from my Grandmother and her 2 sisters. Am trying to get them all spruced up, and all need treadle belts. I bought the leather belt from another source. I found it difficult to cut the leather to the exact length, and then to put the staple in and have it hold. Then, I discovered Lehman's treadle belts! Oh my, what an easy belt to put on, and no staples! They don't need to be messed with at all, and they grip so much better than the leather! If you want a period belt this may not be what you are looking for, but if you want to use your machine, try this belt, you won't be sorry!

Bought this as a replacement for a traditional leather belt. I purchased a leather belt from a local sewing machine shop and was disappointed in the quality. This is fantastic! It adds a little grip, and seemingly requires a little less effort to treadle. I bought two of these, to use in two different treadle machines. One, a Singer, required no adjustment of the belt. The other, a New Home, required a slightly shorter belt. This was very easy to cut to size with scissors. I have 7 treadle machines, and may never buy a leather treadle belt again!

This is a super product. It adjusts easily, looks great (blends in with machine), able to keep looser than leather so machine does not labor as hard, is quiet, reasonably price and just a tremendous addition to my 1917 treadle!

Recently got the new treadle sewing machine and this belt fit perfectly. So easy to install! Am going to order 2 more for backup, although I doubt they will ever break. Very smooth treadling with this belt.

If you have an old treadle sewing machine and the leather belt is broken or stretched out this one is a wonderful replacement.
