I got this just in time. I had a pair of socks that are hand knit that blew out in the heel. Hopefully it's big enough to do what I need it to do.

I was so pleased with my own darning eggs when I bought them two or three years ago that I bought more and darning needles and thimbles and will teach my young friends how to repair their own socks, making them better than new!

Like Ginger, I used food grade wax on this for a protective finish. I use this product when knitting socks for grafting the toe stitches. It works great!

never needed one of these until I started knitting and crocheting my own socks - these are necessary to make quick repairs before all your hard work unravels itself. These are nice and smooth, I suggest food grade wax to keep it conditioned between uses - like the kind you would use on wooden cutting boards - videos of 'how to darn' can be found on Youtube as this has become a lost 'art' of its own.
