Details
To attract screech owls: Place 3" of dry wood chips on the floor of the box. Mount the nest box 8 to 30 feet high on farmland, in orchards or in the woods. In the spring, screech owls will nest in this box. Other times during the year, they will use it as a protected place to eat, to store uneaten prey and as a roost.
To attract American kestrels: Place the nest box in a hayfield, pasture, orchard or open wooded area. Mount the nest box 12 to 30 feet high on a pole or tree.
Helpful Hint: This nest box can also be used by the boreal owl.
