Fresh bread doesn't stay fresh forever, but this simple bread saver helps it stay soft longer. Soak the terracotta disc in water for 20 minutes, pat it dry and place it in an airtight container with bread, rolls, bagels, tortillas or other baked goods. It slowly releases moisture to help keep them from drying out too quickly.

Use it dry when you want the opposite effect. It helps absorb excess moisture to keep crackers, pretzels, chips, granola and nuts crisp, while also helping reduce caking in spices, salt and flour.
