2 DIY Non-Toxic Cleaners for Your Home

essential-oils When it comes to a clean home and a healthy YOU, we're all for leaving behind as many chemicals as possible. Here at Lehman's, Replenishment Buyer Alyssa inspires many of us to take a hard look at our personal care and cleaning products - and simplify. Alyssa says, "I have epilepsy caused by hormone imbalances, and I have a sensitivity/allergy to chemical fragrances. Living as chemical- and hormone disrupter-free as possible is important to taking care of my personal health as well as of those around me. It simplifies my routine and saves money as an added bonus." Today, Alyssa shares her two favorite recipes for homemade, non-toxic cleaners. They're quick, easy, refreshing and they really WORK. Plus, you'll be leaving behind all of those chemicals you don't want (or need) in and around your home. Enjoy! For really nice wood surfaces (like antiques or my piano), I do use an all-natural wood cleanser." Ingredients: Put it all in a spray bottle and shake before using each time. • Sprinkle 1/3 – ½ cup baking soda all around the toilet bowl
  • Then sprinkle about 10 drops of favorite antibacterial essential oil (Alyssa uses lemon most of the time, but she likes tea tree oil when it’s the "sick season.")
  • 1/3 – ½ cup white vinegar poured on top of the soda to make it bubble
Let it sit for 15 minutes or so, then scrub and flush.
