Now having a little one and planning kitchen activities when friends come over, it is fun to think of creative ways to have them help and enjoy the process without getting overwhelmed – the kids and the moms.

Ingredients

  • 1 packet quick rise yeast
  • 1 T. sugar
  • 1 t. salt
  • 1 1/2 C. warm water
  • 4 C. flour

Directions

  1. Dissolve the yeast in warm water.
  2. Add the sugar, salt, and flour. Mix until well blended.
  3. Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface and knead until smooth.
  4. Cut off small portions of dough, roll into ropes, and twist into pretzel shapes.
  5. Arrange the pretzels on greased cookie sheets.
  6. Brush each pretzel with beaten egg and sprinkle with coarse salt.
  7. Bake at 450°F (230°C) for 15 minutes, or until golden brown.
