A "What If" Kit for Your Vehicle

Snow and ice storms can quickly turn even modern-day Interstate Highways into very cold parking lots. What if you skid off an icy winter road into a ditch and have to wait for help to come and tow you out? Are you ready?

My Mom always carried her "In-Case Pack" in the trunk of her car. I have carried on the tradition. My children call it "Mom's What If Stuff".

A few long-lasting snacks are a great thing to have on hand in your vehicle in case you are stuck somewhere for a long period of time.

Here is what mine has in it:

Warm blankets
First aid kit
Extra hats, scarves, and gloves
Snacks - granola, nuts, trail mix
Drinking water
LED Flashlights
Dashboard cell phone charger
Snow scraper
Large container (with a cover) of kitty litter (for emergency tire traction, or invest in a traction mat)
Emergency flares
A good book or two

It's not too late for this winter, and an emergency vehicle kit is a wise idea in any season! Before you and your family encounter some bad weather that can stop you in your tracks, put together your personal "What If" bag. Keep it in your vehicle, ready to go. It can make an enormous difference.
