I was given lodge ware by my Mom and Mother-in-Law years ago and now have given to both my children. We really like the way the iron cooks the foods and stands up to years of use. Might say it is a family tradition.

I own this dutch oven, and the camp dutch oven, and love them both. This one is great for hanging over a fire and cooking soup/stew. (I prefer the camp dutch oven for cooking roasts and desserts over a fire because it has a flat lid for holding coals and the legs to keep it up off the ground.) It's also perfect on the stove top and in the oven. I actually have been using it on my flat top stove for five years now and never have had any trouble. Anytime I'm buying cast iron cookware, Lodge is the only brand I go with. It comes pre-seasoned, ready to go.

I have these classic DOs in both sizes 10 and 12 and recommend them to all! A great big ol' cast iron pot is one of the most versatile cooking vessels you can have in your kitchen arsenal! There are so many things you can do with them: fry, roast, stew, deep-fry, saute, bake, etc.; and you can use them on a range-top, in an oven and over campfires or charcoal. I wouldn't want to be without mine! Properly seasoned (after lots of use) they are non-stick and will last for generations with correct care!
