Wide wick lamp is brighter then other wick style

We live in a small community where the electricity goes off a lot. Our little cabin lamp makes a brighter light than to oil lamps we used with I was young and lived way out there. We can read quite well with 2 and they last long enough for the sun to come up or until time for bed after sundown.

This is just what I was looking for: a small, non-smoking lamp for emergencies. I would give it 5 stars if it could hold enough olive oil for 12 hours...currently its only 8 or so. The best thing about this lamp is that the olive oil will put out the flame if it gets knocked over.

Bright, well-made, and easy to use. Great little product! Some feedback on comments left by other reviewers: First, the wick does need tending, but no more so than any other oil lamp - tending wicks is simply part of having oil lamps. In comparison to other lamps, this one is easy to trim and pull up a bit as needed. Second, yes, it's just a jar and wire - but it's a jar of just the right size, with a sturdy wire insert that is well engineered to do exactly what it needs to do. Well worth the minor expense of having someone put the two together in such a useful and durable fashion. This one's a keeper that we'll be using for a long time.

This is a cute, simple, little lamp that comes in handy when power is out. It's nice that it uses vegetable oil as I always have some around.

This lamp is a glass jar with a wire holder in it for the wick. That is all. A glass jar with a lid, a holder and a wick. It is not worth $15.00. I would not buy another one.

Really like this lamp, very good illumination. Always have olive oil, so will always have fuel.

I love my lamp. It burns so clean and burns for hours. It gives off a soft light and is so economical. I put the wick up a tad over the recommened so maybe that is why my lamp has burned over 8 hours with out ever going out.

I love my new cabin olive oil lamp! It is quite bright and easy to use. I light it almost every night now, just for fun on these winter nights. My only dislike is that it doesn't have any way to turn the wick up while it is lit. So it seems to burn out after an hour or two and then I have to manually pull the wick up again before the next light. But overall, I have been enjoying it and the fact that it burns clean is great!
