Your berry basket is just like the ones my grandparents used to use. Here in the Pacific Northwest, blackberries grow wild along the roadsides & even in vacant city lots; free for the picking. I just ordered a second basket so my wife can pick with me. The basket is also handy in the garden for peas & beans, & is perfect for ladder picking hops, cherries or haws. I appreciate the high quality hand work done by the Amish weavers, & the personal touch (the weaver signs his name on the bottom of the basket.) Some folks recommend a plastic liner, but I prefer the character stains from everyday use add to the basket. The basket gets heavy when filled, so I would recommend a pair of Lehman's Heavy Duty Work Suspenders & a good belt to go with the basket.

Love the basket. Well made and very nice. Makes picking go a lot faster since you have both of your hands free to grab! I have bought a couple for my friends and they love them as well. the green and the red colors are both nice.

Wild blackberry's short season is around the end of June here. 24 years ago we delayed our honeymoon in order for my wife to go berry picking.I got this basket for her this year as one of her anniversary gifts as more or less a joke. She was thrilled and now other family members want one, even her 80 year old mother! Plastic liner is recommended to prevent stains to this well made basket. A great gift to the right person.
