Fantastic gizmo

This wonderful pitter has saved me SO much time. I can go through pounds and pounds of cherries in a few minutes. I even experimented with using it on cherries to be put in the dehydrator. The results are not pretty but they're great for adding to muesli or stews that want a little tang -- or for chewing on, like a little piece of fruit leather. Plus, when I drained the cherries before dehydrating them, I also had several quarts of delicious fresh cherry juice. I now live in the UK and, as I recall, the postage was about the same cost as the machine, but well worth the expense even so, since this pitter will probably still be spitting out cherry pits for me for the next 40 years. I can't see it breaking! I oil it before putting it away at the end of cherry season.
Small Seed Troubles

Overall this is a great product, however if you have small seeded cherries, like most far north sour varieties. This pitter will only get about 75% of the seeds out. I use cherries exclusively to make jam, so this is fine.

Best tool ever! After years of removing cherry stones by hand, I know have this great tool. Don't be without it! It's a joy to use!

I have been waiting for this to come back in stock! I go through 3 or 4 60 lb crates of cherries each year and believe me those 4-cherry pitters are NOT time effective for me. THANK YOU Lehman's for having this.

This cherry pitter is just like the one we used when I was growing up on a farm near Kidron, Ohio. We pitted oodles of sour cherries from our sour cherry trees. The pitter tears the cherries a little but works fast except for an occasional jammed pit. We enjoyed many cherry pies, cobblers, james and jellies from those pitted cherries.
